At Mitchelton Special School we provide educational programs for students aged between 3 and 18. All students who attend our school have been diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability and many have also been diagnosed with additional disabilities such as Autism, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment and/or Physical Impairment.
Mitchelton Special School students, families and staff are proud to be part of the connected and caring Mitchie community. We strive to enact our school vision of ‘live to learn, learn to live’ in every teachable moment.
Our teaching and learning standards are excellent, and we are committed to providing differentiated, age appropriate motivating learning opportunities for all of our students.
We use a variety of pedagogies to assist our students to reach their learning goals such as Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), Community Based Learning (CBL) and Explicit Teaching.
